Begusarai is the industrial and financial center of Bihar, as well as the administrative seat of the Begusarai district, one of the Indian state of Bihar's thirty-eight districts.

  • Jai Mangla Temple : The Jai Mangla Temple is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Begusarai. It is located in Jaimangalgarh, on the southern shore of Kanwar Lake, and is dedicated to Goddess Jai Mangla, the temple's presiding deity. This temple is also known as Shaktipeeth among locals and devotees who come from far away to offer their prayers and receive goddess blessings.

  • Kanwar Lake Bird Sanctuary : Kanwar Lake Bird Sanctuary is well-known for providing a safe haven and resting spot for a variety of magnificent domestic and migratory birds. Some of the birds seen in this area are critically endangered, such as the Oriental White-backed Vulture and Long-billed Vulture; many others are near-threatened, such as the Darter Anhinga, Painted Stork, and Black-bellied Tern; and a few are vulnerable, such as the Greater Spotted Eagle, Greater Adjutant, Lesser Kestrel, and Sarus Crane. During the winter season, migratory birds from Central Asia, notably Siberia and the Himalayan region, travel a considerable distance to Kabar Lake. Furthermore, the presence of a variety of aquatic plants makes this location considerably more lovely during the spring and winter seasons. Kanwar Lake Bird Sanctuary is the ideal site to visit in Begusarai for nature enthusiasts and bird watchers.

How to Reach

  • Begusarai Junction is located on the East Central Railway's Barauni-Katihar section in Bihar, India. The main railhead, Barauni railway station, is around 15 kilometers from the district headquarters. The other important railway station in Begusarai is Hathidah, which is roughly 20 kilometers from the district headquarters. As a result, Begusarai has excellent rail connectivity and is well connected to the rest of the country via trains.
  • By Air: The nearest airport is Jaya Prakash Narayan International Airport in Patna, about 120 kilometers from Begusarai. From Patna to Begusarai, state and private bus services, as well as vehicle rental or taxi services, are available.
