Silchar, Assam

Silchar is the capital of the Cachar district in the Indian state of Assam. It is located 343 kilometers south of Guwahati. Captain Thomas Fisher established it in 1832 when he relocated Cachar's headquarters to Janiganj in Silchar. It attracts a large number of tourists due to its natural beauty, rich and diverse culture, and improved infrastructure.

  • Khaspur : The ruins of a vast Dimasa kingdom can be found near Khaspur. The Lion Gate, Sun Gate, and the old King's Temple are the primary attractions. The original palace is gone, but its subsidiary, the main entrance gate, the "Suryadwar," and the "Debalaya," are still standing. The doorways are decorated with elephant patterns.
